FlipGrid
Description
Free to all educators, Flipgrid is a user-friendly, student-centred tool. In a “grid” students record short video responses to teacher-posed questions housed in a “private” or “open” grid which is easily integrated into a LMS or website. Within a grid, students can present viewpoints, articulate their understanding, and build on background knowledge. They can also view, respond to and comment on one another’s clips. By generating open-ended discussions on a grid, educators can provide a rich platform for pedagogical learning strategies.

- As a learner-centred tool, Flipgrid facilitates active and authentic learning experiences through collaborative discussions which support critical thinking, self-reflection, and the development of knowledge.
- Students can learn from each other and the larger social community through collaborative discussions where they can self-reflect, give feedback, share knowledge and ask questions.
- Collaborative features of the tool help to connect, stimulate, and motivate users within a social learning community.
- Information is presented in an organized and simplified fashion making it highly visual and easy to navigate and access. This design feature makes it particularly helpful for reducing cognitive load.
